Begin your safari with an early morning departure from Kampala or Entebbe in a private 4×4 safari vehicle, travelling north towards Murchison Falls National Park. The road takes you through busy towns, rural communities and open countryside, with a stop for breakfast or refreshments along the way.

If you wish, you can add a rhino tracking stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary on the way. It is optional, needs extra time and may affect your arrival time at the park. After a lunch stop en route, you enter Murchison Falls National Park and, if time allows, enjoy a short evening game drive in search of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and antelopes.

You then continue to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay in the heart of the wilderness.

Wake up early and head into the savannah for a morning game drive in the northern sector of the park. Your driver-guide helps you search for elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kob and other antelope, and for lions and other predators resting or moving through the grasslands. The early hours are also the best time for photography.

Return to the lodge for breakfast and some relaxation, then enjoy lunch before the afternoon’s adventure.

In the afternoon you cruise along the Victoria Nile towards the base of Murchison Falls. Watch hippos and Nile crocodiles along the riverbanks, look out for elephants coming down to drink and bathe, and spot African fish eagles and other water birds. At the base of the falls you feel the power of the Nile as it forces its way through the narrow gorge, before the return cruise and an evening of dinner and rest at your lodge.

After the visit, leave the park and begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, stopping for lunch along the way. You arrive in the afternoon or evening, depending on road conditions and the stops you make, and your Murchison Falls safari ends with memories of Uganda’s wildlife, landscapes and the mighty River Nile.
