James Mutabazi is a Ugandan tourism professional, entrepreneur, tourism educator and researcher, and the founder of Bespoke Safaris.
His professional experience spans tour operations, wildlife tourism, guiding, tourism management, tourism training, research and destination development.
He combines academic knowledge with practical tourism experience, with a particular interest in sustainable tourism, community-based tourism, tourism enterprise development and safari operations.
Every traveller deserves a safari designed around their own interests, expectations and aspirations. Tourism can do much more than move visitors from one attraction to another: it can connect people, create livelihoods and support conservation.
James loved touring the villages around his home in Rakai, curious about places, nature and people.
He began to study Geography with growing interest, and to see how tourism connects people with places and cultures.
He completed a Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management at Makerere University Business School with First Class Honours.
He gained hands-on experience in wildlife interpretation and conservation tourism, resort operations, tour management, travel consultancy, tour guiding and tourism training.
He deepened his expertise in tourism management, research and sustainable tourism.
Built on one idea: every safari should be designed around the traveller, not every traveller around the same safari package.
James leads business development, international partnerships and safari strategy, together with our tourism projects, research and training.
